The camping site "Um Salzwaasser" is situated in a very quiet location directly on the  border of the river Sauer. The village Born, with about 450 inhabitants, is situated in the valley of the Lower Sauer and is surrounded by orchards and woods. Several small salt springs flow along the Sauer. The cycle paths along the Sauer and the nearby cycle paths of the Moselle and Saar are located directly on the camping site around Salzwaasser.

The rural villages of Boursdorf, Givenich, Mompach and Herborn lie on a plateau. In Mompach and Herborn the historic building fabric has been preserved. A highlight is the orchid nature trail in the Deiwelskopp nature reserve in Moersdorf. Several local hiking trails with beautiful vantage points invite you to hike. In Herborn, the newly laid out 7.8 km circular trail invites you to explore the Hierberbësch natural forest reserve.
