To eat and to drink,
or a typical Luxembourg souvenir
Someone once stated: in Luxembourg you eat French style, but in German size. So you won’t be afraid to leave the table hungry. Luxembourg wines and beers are very tasty and meet in an excellent way with the dishes. The wine-grapes grow along the river Moselle and are made into fresh and fruity wines like Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Elbling, Rivaner and Pinot.
Along the Moselle river, a lot of wine-cellars offer visits with tasting and the breweries can also be visited. Furthermore, there is a wide range of distilled wine (eau-de-vie) from grain, apples, cherries, blue plums (quetsch), yellow plums (mirabelle), pears, …
Luxembourg agriculture makes a lot of quality products, like dairy products sold under the label “Luxlait”. Smoked ham and meat-products are really recommended.
Farm products, such as mustard, oil, pasta, honey, tea etc. are on the market with the label “made in Luxembourg”.
