Neimënster Abbey cultural centre

Nowadays, the former Benedictine abbey in the iconic Grund district of the city is an open, welcoming venue for concerts and festivals, although for a long time the large building served as a prison. Following extensive restoration, it has been a public meeting place and cultural centre since 2004. Its purpose is to strengthen Luxembourg’s cultural identity and promote intercultural dialogue. The abbey offers a programme of concerts, plays and artists-in-residence as well as a range of free exhibitions that are open daily. Guided tours can be arranged on request.

Museum-Memorial of Deportation
During the German occupation (from 1942 to 1944) the former railwaystation of Hollerich was the point of departure of numerous young people forcefully enroled in the German army and of 4000 people that were forcefully “resettled” in Eastern parts of Germany for political reasons, loosing all their belongings in Luxembourg.
